overview + problem
before starting the 2026–2027 school year, the kompany officer team decided to make a new logo. we decided to change our logo was because we were often associated with the korean culture organizations on campus, which caused confusion for many people. as a part of the logo making team and the team's lead graphic designer, my job was to work with my team, brainstorm, ideate, and finalize the new logo.
brainstorming
two of the most iconic parts of the kompany branding is having a new gemstone every year and our mascot, 'k' the tiger. i wanted to incorporate both aspects into my design, so i ultimate decided on a tiger head gemstone. for typefaces, i wanted to come up with a variety of styles that could convey different feelings ranging from something more whimsical to more fun and playful.

deciding on a direction
i shared my ideas with my team and send a poll to our officer team. they had originally voted for a design that gave us a softer image. but after discussion, we decided to combine our ideas together before finalizing our design. instead of doing the tiger gemstone, we decided to simplify it into a cartoon illustration of a tiger head for a more playful vibe
collaborating + finalizing
ciel added a two-color drop shadow and replaced the 'o' in 'the kompany' with the tiger head. alexa illustrated four different tiger variations.

ILLUSTRATION BY CIEL WANG - incorporated the tiger head into the type and added a dropshadow, experimented with different colors

ILLUSTRATION BY Alexa williams - drew four different variations of the tiger head, ultimately decided together that the left one would be the final
outcome
we decided for every new era, the color palette would change. for the moonstone era, we went for a blue/gray/white. i vectorized the final logo in illustrator, incorporating ciel's idea and alexa's illustration. all of the kompany's social media platforms updated to the new logo.
